Wow, how did the photographer get this shot?
Happy, friendly YELLOW!

I can't believe it's Friday already! This week just flew by due to the long Memorial Day weekend. Hope yours was a good one and that you enjoy some much deserved r&r this weekend. On Friday's I like to leave you with some beautiful, colorful images. Color is EVERYWHERE and it's exemplified in nature more than anywhere else. Enjoy these beautiful photos by Laura Hardie and if you have a chance, visit her Etsy shop. See you here on Monday!

P.S. Which of these things is not like the other (remember the old Sesame Street song)? After I posted these photos I realized that poor Mr. Peacock must feel a little out of place since all of the other photos are of flowers. Ah, well.....nothing wrong with being a little different. ;)

I'm amazed at the creativity of this sister duo! I've left a link to their Etsy profile below. I like how they combine vintage with modern...my favorite combo!
Images by Whiteowl. Click on images to enlarge.

I love these unique, feminine, slightly funky pieces created by Whiteowl. Here's an excerpt from their profile on Etsy:

"We are two sisters who love vintage and appreciate handmade things. We have collaborated on everything from films to photographs to art and jewelry. Most of our materials are rescued from estate sales, flea markets and even our own Grandmother! It is important to us to try to use repurposed materials as much as we can but we also love the mix of old and new".

Visit their Etsy Shop for more eye candy. :)

ENJOY THIS INTERVIEW WITH VIRGINIE! I'm inspired by her story and hope you are, too. :) Please feel free to leave comments.....I'm sure she would appreciate it.

"My name is Virginie, i'm living in Paris for 9 years but i was born in Nice, on the French Riviera, a beautiful place. I have a very creative brother who is also my best friend, living in Amsterdam and working as a ad in an advertising agency. I have been working for 8 years as a PR manager in fashion and lifestyle, living a crazy life of stress and competition. In 2008, personal events, travels and meetings made me want to reach for more quality, more authenticity, more fun, more passion... I decided to live of my passion, PHOTOGRAPHY. I am passionate about food, nature designs, and obviously COLOR. I LOVE pop-art, logos, surrealism, fashion magazines, paintings, sunsets, art nouveau, night lights, packaging, flowers, short films, graffiti, fabrics, typos... learning, listening, sharing, cooking, growing.

When i turned 18, i was allowed to work and earn a little money. I had a job as a waitress in an ice cream shop in Nice. That's when i decided to buy myself my first camera, i wanted to take pictures of the ice creams and people eating them. I bought an authentic Canon EOS 500 with the money. That was 14 years ago...

I love taking pictures of little details of life; food, flowers, walls, furniture, details, doors and windows. Light is very important on the things i like to photographe. The light can change colors, perspectives, and bring MAGIC to the simplest things".

Thanks so much, Virginie. You're an inspiration!

Good Morning!

I'm excited to share some cool things with you this week! Tomorrow I'll be interviewing a very talented French photographer.....her work is amazing and you'll feel like you're visiting Europe without the plane fare. ;) Hope to see you then!

Colorful Spaces ~ The Natural Home

Welcome to a new week......most of you are still out enjoying it! I hope it's been a relaxing, fun, and loooooong weekend for you.

Yesterday my husband and I took a spontaneous drive to the mountains. Besides our Puggle Puppy (Bojangles) whining the whole way, we thoroughly enjoyed the majestic beauty of the Cascade Mountains, gushing waterfalls, and scattered flowers dotting the roadside. I came home inspired by NATURE, and thought I'd post some home photos with nature-inspired themes.

If you have a chance to a take a scenic drive, go for it! If not, here are some lovely home photos to tie you over. ;)

Colorful Spaces Inspired by Nature

White Dining Room and Gray-green Kitchen ~ Indie Rocket
Gold Bedroom ~ Ooh_Food

After our drive yesterday, I came home and did a web search on natural elements in decorating. I came across a great article which does a better job than I could do at describing a NATURAL HOME, its colors, and the elements that make it "natural". Here's just a small excerpt from that article. To read more, go to Pioneer Thinking. Very thorough and interesting article!

"The colors of nature truly come into play in this year’s fabric selections. “For upholstery, we’re seeing lots of NATURE-INSPIRED PRINTS such as botanicals and tropical-themed toiles,” said Voss. "Also, watch for earth-toned stripes or textures in bold shades of PISTACHIO, LIME, CELEDON, GOLD, AMBER or even SKY BLUE. We are seeing a lot of fabric mixes with floral cotton slipcovers that are reminiscent of those found in vintage European cottages,” she said. For example, the slipcovered Ashton sofa from Arhaus Furniture is shown combining the charm of an English garden-style cotton floral with a fresh green stripe on its ottoman.

For a soothing outdoorsy environment, Voss suggests starting with a NEUTRAL COLOR PALETTE such as TAUPE, GRAY, SAND, TERRACOTTA, or GRASS GREEN. Green is a particularly versatile color because of its ability to work with warm or cool hues in a room, and it mixes well with dark or warm-toned woods. When a room has a NEUTRAL BACKDROP, it is easy to add a variety of nature-inspired accent pieces, such as a stone coffee table, linen slipcover or accessories that bring a hint of the outdoors into the setting."

Their shops are as mesmerizing as their clothing!

* Note that the SOFT HUES and sheer, delicate texture of these tops are what immediately speak FEMININE.

Colorful Style ~ Tryst By Kerry

Isn't this jewelry by "Tyrst By Kerry" mouth-watering? I love the translucent quality of the semi-precious gems! I also like the fact that these pieces will compliment any outfit because of their subtle jewel-toned colors. Here's what the designer says about her jewelry line:

"Each Tryst design is an irresistible combination of modern fashion and vintage charm. Great work, Kerry!

Colorful Living ~ Simplicity

Home Photos by Katja from Nestled In

Recently while searching through photos on Flickr. I found photos of a home that impressed me with its crisp cleanness and SIMPLICITY. As I clicked through the photostream I noticed a recurring pattern. The homeowner clearly enjoys the SIMPLE THINGS in life. Her space is uncluttered and their are charming vignettes of beautiful vases and framed art throughout the home. I've been noticing that the older I get, the more I want to live in a home that's free of chaos. I love the noise and activity of kids' and pets, but "things" can go! I have a huge pile of "giveaways" in my hallway (don't ever open that door....you'll be buried!) and I just keep adding to it. How can you simplify today? Any ideas or thoughts for the rest of us?

Colorful Living ~ Enjoy the Good Things!

Sometimes I think that people in Europe have a better grasp on the important things in life. They seem to cherish the small things.....the simple things. They walk everywhere, enjoy small portions of rich high-quality food and drink, take time for tea and friends and for tending their gardens. This is a general statement, of course, but still I know I could learn so much from the European lifestyle!

Colorful Living ~ Nurture Something

Whether it's kids, plants or pets, find something to nurture and care for. Our homeowner from Finland's got it right. Her cat's name is Lissu and from looking at her photos it's obvious that he's one loved kitty! We have a one year old Puggle (part Pug, part Beagle....what a combination!) who brings me hours of entertainment and affection and also fills a void as my kids' get older and more independent. As far as plants go, my thumb is BLACK so I'll leave that joy to someone else. :) What do you nurture? Who nurtures YOU?
