Photographer ~ Elizabeth from Liz Ann Photography

Her Website ~ Liz Ann Photography

"Hello, my name is Liz. I’m a contemporary child and family portrait photographer based in the North-East Atlanta metro area. I shoot on location and use 100% natural light.

Photography is one of my passions -- so much so that I wouldn’t feel like myself without making a photograph. It’s my way of expressing, reflecting, and stopping time to hold special moments vivid for a lifetime.

I have studied and practiced photography for more than 10 years. In 2005, I earned a BFA degree in photography from the College For Creative Studies, an institution recognized as a world leader in art and design education. Becoming a wife and mother inspired me to take my craft to a whole new level. My children awakened in me a sense of wonder, spontaneity, and joyful bliss. They move me to live in the moment and to cherish precious time we have together. I have taken thousands of pictures of my children, and I cannot stop.

I would love to spend time with your children or family and capture your own moments . . . your unique, treasured experiences together. Childhood is fleeting. Through photographs, we preserve images to rekindle the memories our hearts keep."

"inspiration + ambition = creation. i shoot with a cannon rebel xsi, still new at it and learning my way around it. :) i love learning and discovering things. i like being outside and taking quiet, slow walks. i like simply thinking and seeing. listening to what I hear. really paying attention and taking notice of what I am looking at. taking pictures is something that I find relaxing and a way to see things from different angles and in different lights."

Well, it's Day 2 of the Spotlight on Photographers! I hope you enjoyed taking a look at the work of the four featured and very talented photographers yesterday. Today I'll be showcasing the photos of three more female photographers. Please take a minute to leave a positive comment for each of them. For every comment you leave, you'll be entered into a GIVEAWAY. And, more importantly, you'll be giving well-deserved praise to some hardworking and gifted photographers. :)

Today's GIVEAWAY is being offered by Kellie from 74 Lime Lane. If your name is pulled from "the hat" you will be able to choose any 8x12 print from her shop or her Flickr (all winners will be announced next Monday). Thanks, Kellie!

"A little bit about the girl behind the camera -

I am a self taught photographer and full time mother inspired by my daughters laugh, my sons newborn deliciousness, the connection I see between people, the warmth of the sun, and a stark landscape. I love vibrant colours, watching the clouds drift across a blue sky, spring blossoms, the feel of sand and grass underfoot, rustic country scenes, all things vintage and brown paper packages wrapped in string. My favourite thing of all....getting lost in a daydream....

Photography for me is magical and mysterious. I was given my first camera by my parents when I was 8 (a Vivitar, I still have it), and even before having my own camera I was always fascinated with the magic of it all. My mother would press a button on the polaroid camera, and a piece of paper would emerge that slowly revealed an image, a moment in time forever captured. What is more amazing than that? I love nothing more than to hear the click of the shutter release on a camera, to capture an image that makes me think "WOW". If someone else likes the photo too, well, that is the ultimate bonus.

Being self taught I focus more on the emotion of an image than the technical aspects. I am always experimenting with various mediums, so there will always be something new added to my shop as my art evolves.

Thank you for sharing this journey with me, this is just the beginning……………"

Welcome to the Spotlight on Photographers!

Good morning! I'm so excited to get started with THE SPOTLIGHT ON PHOTOGRAPHERS!!! Thanks for your patience as I've worked out all of the details. Here are a couple of them:

~ I'll be spotlighting 3-4 photographers a day in no specific order. You'll get to observe a variety of styles and some amazing talent!

~ Each day of the spotlight (Monday through Friday) a photographer will be offering a GIVEAWAY. To enter, all you need to do is leave comments for the featured photographers of the day. For each comment you leave, your name will be entered in the GIVEAWAY. The winners will be chosen randomly and I'll announce who they are next Monday. :)

Today's GIVEAWAY is from Cassia from Lola's Room! She is offering an 8x8 print of your choice. Please pay her shop a visit and then come back to Simply Hue to leave comments under the featured photographers' work. I encourage you to not only leave a comment under Cassia's photos, but under the other photograhers' work as well, so they can be encouraged.

Thanks so much and have a great new week!

NOTE: For those of you who prefer not to have the music in the background, you might want to turn down your computer's volume. :)

"A photographer from Brighton; I am inspired by the simple everyday things.

I took up photography as a hobby in 2006.
When I treated myself to a Holga camera, photography became an obsession."

"My name is Sarah Richmond and I live in Franklin Tenessee along with my forever-entertaining husband and two minis who provide me with multiple stories every day. I am a lover of God, the laughter of children, beauty in the ordinary, and of course photography. I've always been a sucker for a good story. And a story with pictures? Well, even better!"

Photographer ~ Olive Tree (13 years old!)

Her Blog ~ O Horse Feathers

"I am a writer of words and a teller of tales. I capture the world through the lens of my camera, seeking to show the beauty of nature to anyone who will take a look. I labor with pen, paint, and paper, creating whimsical illustrations. You'll find me where things are beautiful, tapping away at my novel on my laptop in a soft forest or snapping photos of a bird on wing or composing a song in my head while swimming in the ocean. I have recently discovered the power of God. I laugh, I cry, I love, and I create. I believe that there is magic left yet in this world. I am in love with horses, and I am lucky enough to be able to work and ride with them whenever I please. I laugh, I love, I learn, and I live... and in this way, I fly."

Photographer ~ My Mom, Jeanette :)

My Mom has recently discovered a love for photography. I'm so impressed with the beauty she finds and captures with her simple point and shoot camera. She takes photos of flowers around her home, colorful produce at the local farmer's market, and scenic views while on road trips with my Dad. It makes me happy to see her so excited about photography! We've even taken a few drives together for the sole purpose of finding interesting or beautiful things to photograph. Proud of you, Mom! xoxo
