I COULD LIVE HERE - AN ECLECTIC HOME

Good morning ... hope your week's off to a good start.  :)

Today I thought I'd show you a home I found on one of my favorite decorating blogs, Deco Photo Blog.  Honestly, if this home was in a line up, it probably wouldn't be the first one I'd choose to live in, but I still love so much about it!  I admire the vast array of bright colors, the eclectic mix of old and new, the patterned wallpaper (look at the gorgeous wallpaper on the bedroom wall!), and all of the personal touches like the art work, the books, and the little keepsakes on the shelves.  It seems like the homeowner has put a lot of thought into the placement of each object and has brought in so many personal and meaningful pieces.

One of the most challenging parts of decorating our new condo (we sold almost all of our furniture and belongings when we moved here 10 months ago) was making it feel like "us".  For the first few months it felt like a hollow shell with blank walls, very few accessories (such as pillows, artwork, and decorations), and many of our beloved family memories (family photos and special things we've collected over the years) were still packed away in mile-high stacks of boxes.  Well, I can finally say it's feeling like home and once things are in a little more order, I'll post pictures on Simply Hue for you to see!

How do you personalize your home?  I'd love to hear a few of your tips.  :)

  1. Hi Vicki! How are you doing?
Thinking about my actual home, after about 6 years I haven't personalize it... It was probably a mistake to buy it cause I never felt it really mine so I kind of half decorated, always fantasizing about moving away, I decorate in my mind my next home when mine looks like I've just move in!
Few years ago I used to travel a lot because of my job, I spent so much time in hotels that I needed to feel the room like home so I've always brought with me photos of my family and friends, plus few incense sticks of my home scent.
I think the best way to personalize a home is spending good moments there, to find your own place in the house, dinners with friends, family reunions... and it's done.

    1. I love the last sentence you wrote, Alex. I think you're so right. It's taking a while to make our condo feel like home, but it really helps when friends and family spend time here.

So great to hear from you! I'm doing pretty good. How about you? xo

  4. Wow!!!! The wallpaper is to die for, and the bits of color scattered throught the dominately neutral home is a nice take on incorporating color EVERYWHERE. :)

    Thanks for sharing.
