RaNdOm ArT fOr ThE eVeRyDay

Good morning! Hope your week's going well. Mine's been a little different with my husband home all week. My routine's a little off kilter but it's still good to have him home.

This morning I received a sweet message from a female photographer on Etsy. She has a beautiful photography shop called Random Art For the Everyday. After I read her kind message I visited her photo shop and was in complete awe. It was one of those times where I had a difficult time not comparing my work and feeling inadequate. I don't know about you, but when you have a passion (mine is photography) it's easy to compare and come up lacking in your own mind. This is something I'm really working on because it definitely doesn't bring about anything good. What about you? Ever struggle with comparing yourself to others? I think we all do at times.

Anyways, above are examples of her GORGEOUS and CREATIVE photographs. Her shop is so fun and I love her idea about taking a photo with every letter of the alphabet. Take a look here!

  1. We all feel inadequate when we find someone else's work stops us in our tracks with our mouths hanging open. But we also need to be secure in the knowledge that we are where we are meant to be in the evolution of our creative process. And seeing that jaw-dropping loveliness should spur us on to our own definition of success. Thanks for sharing your inspiration! Enjoy the day! Erin

  2. These are great photos, and yours are great too. Yes, I seem to do that at times or maybe alot of the time. Especially since I started blogging. I've been comparing some of the parties and events I have decorated for lately with others that are really good on the web. I like what Tesor has to say above.

  5. Her work is fabulous and so is yours sweet friend! I think every creative type compares their work to others and feels that it may be inadequate, it makes us keep raising the bar higher to perfect our art form.

    Lovely post my dear!

  6. I can't agree with Karyn enough - we can't help but compare ourselves to others, but it does keep us raising the bar higher and makes us all better. When in doubt I just try to think positively about myself, my work, and others!! I'm always learning and it's a journey... At the end of the day we are all different though and we all bring wonderful things to the table. I love your work and it really resonates with me.

  7. I agree with the other comments: looking at the wonderful art work of others should inspire us to continue to create. I love the alphabet photos--what a fun way to put together some images!

  8. I think we all feel that way at times. You are definitely not alone. I know I do when I see a really good web design or business card. It actually pushes me harder to be better but you still get that feeling.

I am in love with your photos and you have a strong style that you cant always find. I love the idea of having a letter for each photos. How fun!

  11. What a cute idea, love the cupcake and xoxo pics. I think it's important not to compare but if you are going to, then as Rachel said, use it in a positive way! You're a great inspiration to me, so keep up the lovely blog and photos :)

  12. ooo I love these!! So lovely. It is true, I think every girl goes through times of comparing to others. We are so bad about that. However, its our differences that make us so beautiful..
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  17. I love what Anna wrote: "its our differences that make us so beautiful." I am going to write that out so it might stick in my brain a little more. I had an a-ha moment yesterday that my whole adult life I have been doing this wicked comparison thing. I will be 40 this year. When will I really get it down deep that I am ME, not anyone else? I think this year! :)
