Colorful Inspiration from Nature
I love the muted, soft tones used in this room.....

I have a simple trick for you to practice when trying to derive colors from an inpiration piece such as a photo, area rug, painting, or bouquet of flowers. Put the object atleast a few feet away from you and look at it with your eyes slightly squinted. What are the main colors that stand out to you? When you squint your eyes, the less prominent colors disappear and the more pronounced colors pop out. This is really helpful when you're using an object for inspiration.
Try this....take a look at the bird photo above through slightly squinted eyes and then look at the room photo below it. You'll see how closely the room color relates to the colors in the bird photo above it. It's kind of fun actually! (Look below for more rooms inspired by nature.....specifically BIRDS. :)

I'm just so in love with the birdie photos, they are so beautiful! And thank you for the squinting tip. I've done that in photography before for other reasons, but haven't used it for seeing prominant colors!
