I COULD LIVE HERE ... ONE OF MY FAVORITE HOMES YET

Hello again.  :)  Hope your week's going well.  The weekend is not to far off, so hang in there!

As a blogger I feel like one of my goals is to point you in the direction of beautiful things ... things that make you smile, laugh, think a little deeper, enjoy the simple pleasures, and that challenge you to make your home a haven for you and your family.  When I spotted these gorgeous photos on Pinterest this morning, I knew I needed to show you.  There are so many things to look at and so much personality!  I also appreciate the homeowners use of color.  At first glance it seems very feminine because of all the vibrant color (pinks, oranges, purples), but because she uses black, white, and gray for her walls, artwork, tables & chairs, and in some of her textiles, it makes it a home where a person with more masculine tastes could live comfortably, too.

Hi everyone.  :)  While browsing the web I found the coolest home with personal touches in every corner, on every shelf and wall, and on nearly every piece of furniture.  From handmade crochet throws to children's masterpieces and sentimental vintage objects, this home inspires me to add more meaningful objects to our decor.  Although I prefer a slightly more modern home, I could definitely spend time here appreciating every meaningful object and personalized nook.

Our new place (a small 1,000 square foot condo) has been a bit of a challenge for me to decorate.  First of all, when we moved here from our large 2700 square foot 1918 Craftsman Bungalow, we got rid of years and years of accumulation!  We had three garage sales and sold almost all of our furniture and decorations.  We knew we would have to really cut back in order to squeeze into this little place.

It was heart-breaking at times to go through our sentimental things and know that I couldn't hold onto everything, but it was really freeing at the same time.  I decided when we moved here that I'd keep our decorating simple, clean, and uncluttered.  I wanted a relaxed modern rustic feel and I think we're finally getting there!  It's been a little challenging to incorporate some of the special things we saved and brought with us ... I think after we've lived here for a while our personalities and the things that mean the most to us will be more evident in the appearance of our home and these images definitely inspire me to relax and personalize our tiny space.

Good morning!  How's your day going so far?  I'm hoping that my Tuesday is much better than my Monday. It was one of those Murphy's Law days "whatever can go wrong will go wrong".  One thing I'm already loving about today, though, is the strong wind that's blowing and the sudden downpours that stop as quickly as they started.  I love extreme weather .... it's the constant Seattle drizzle that I'm not too fond of.

Hope these photos will give fuel some decorating ideas for you!  There's so much I love about these rooms!!  In the first two photos I'm in awe of the gorgeous detail work on the fireplace, the shiny wood floors, the white walls and furniture with the bright splashes of color in the textiles.

The olive floral wallpaper along with the modern white chair and bedding really catch my eye in the bedroom and the rustic red brick wall and the crisp mood of the kitchen are perfect.  And, don't you think the view from the balcony is amazing?  I just imagine sitting there with a hot cup of coffee watching the traffic and the people pass by.  Love it!

I COULD LIVE HERE - A CABIN WITH CHARACTER

There's no if's, and's, or but's .... I could live here in a heartbeat! I found these lovely cabin interior photos on this website. Unfortunately, I can't translate the description of these rooms, but I thought the photos might offer some inspiration if you're decorating your home in a modern rustic style. :)

UPDATE:  My dear friend, Trudi, from Beauty Comma gave me the Norwegian interpretation of this lovely home.

"The chairs (both dining and the one with the sheep's skin) are Norwegian design, and the kitchen modules are Danish 70's - the cabin owners inherited the kitchen from family.  This is a very common look in Norwegian cabins. Traditionally, people left the cabin walls bare, but we're starting to get really tired of this look - so this is a typical modern cabin makeover!"

How often do you here the words "clean" and "artsy" in the same sentence?  I think it's a struggle for many artistic creative people do be both, but this homeowner has managed to do just that (Of course, it's possible they had a stylist come in to get everything just right before the photography session).

This home has such an eclectic mix of masculine and feminine, artistic touches, and personalized nooks ... I could definitely see myself living here.

I COULD LIVE HERE ~ SIMPLE ELEGANCE

You know, if you swept me up and dropped me in these rooms for a while, I seriously would not complain ... not for one minute!  These photos were taken from Elle Decor South Africa.  I always love to get a peek into the homes of women from around the world and this one is one I would be very comfortable living in....with it's crisp white floors and walls, retro furniture, modern lines, and soft feminine color scheme.

For those of you who used to read Domino Magazine, I was excited to find that there are still a few ways to access their beautiful home photos and decorating tips online!  You can find them in Brides Magazine , their Facebook page, and even upload their Quick Fixes on the Go on i pad, Kindle, and The Nook.  And, now  on the shelves is their magazine Domino's Quick Fixes.... something I know I could use from time to time.
