Changing Up Your Style
If you're creative you probably know how it feels to get yourself in a bit of a creative rut at times and to be a little fearful to try something new. For a while now I've noticed that I take more than one type of photo. I enjoy shooting whimsical and retro images (Simply Hue Designs) but I also love nature photography and photography with a nostalgic feel. For that reason, I decided to open a new shop on Society 6 where I can post photos that aren't in my usual vintage pastel vibe. In time I hope to sell some of my sketches and collages, too, but that's a ways down the road. ;)
Do you ever try switching up your creative style?

I would LOVE to change my creative style .. Just for a little while. It's all about experimental fun I guess. I'd love to create more vintage, soft focus shots... Mine a quite sharp and textured usually. Change is good... Even just for a little while.

Go for it, Jennie! I'd love to see what you do. :) Checking out your blog and photos right now!
DeleteEven if you change the "subject" or the thematic of the pictures, I can notice your beautiful and particular style in all of them :)
ReplyDeleteAww, that's nice, Ariadna. :) I guess our personality will still come through in whatever we choose to do, huh? Thanks!
DeleteI love to experiment. I think it keeps the creative juices flowing so to speak. Having said that, I love your style. Your photographs have such a clear 'feel' in them. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks, Karin. I appreciate that. :) I've always been a little afraid to experiment but I'm really having fun with it right now!
DeleteVicki, I love these photos and the way you've put them together. Judging from your work, it never seems like you're in a creative rut! But I guess we all are from time to time. Maybe we actually need it - to rest our brains, allowing it to work by itself can actually work wonders. I've noticed improvements both in my dancing and my playing after breaks. My piano teacher always said: "Take a week off, but don't feel bad about it or it won't work!" I figure that the trick is not panicking or trying to force it when we don't get new ideas.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, I'm trying my hand at designing and sewing!
Thanks, Trud. :) I love what you shared, too. I agree about taking a break...maybe even a long one at times and also trying new things along the way. I'd love to see your designing/sewing projects!
DeleteAll the time! I like to do traditional, realistic drawing, creative stylized drawing and now I'm learning to sew and make things too. Sometimes I feel I should stick to one way of working and focus on that. I get bored though and like to do different things.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo's! I'd love to see some of your sketches :)
Thanks, Rachel! We'll see about that one. ha, ha. You're an inspiration. :)
