Can I go to Paris.....yesterday?

Beautiful Parisian images by Chez Jolly.

Can you believe that, other than Canada, I have never left the United States? It's not that I don't want to ... infact it's one of my biggest dreams to visit my relatives in Torino, Italy. It's just that a cloud has never opened up and poured money down on us to make it possible. lol. One day I'll go ... I've promised myself that. ;)

Until then, maybe I can live vicariously through you? Have you been to France or Italy? Tell me all about it!

  1. Vickie, that cloud never opens up when we want to. These images look like you can dream of places you wish to be. I too dream of returning to Italy one day

  3. I am lucky to live in England as it means that visiting Europe is fairly easy. I've been to France a few times. I've been to Paris twice and would love to go back again. I've been to Italy too and stayed in Rome. Would really love to explore other parts of Italy though. My favourite European city at the moment is Barcelona in Spain which I went to this year and loved.

  5. Living in London means it is really easy to travel to Europe. Tomorrow we are leaving on a holiday. Eurostar to Paris, overnight train to Rome where we spend four hours (enough time to get my favourite gelateria) before catching a train to the coast and then a ferry to Dubrovnik, Croatia. We are spending almost two weeks there before getting the ferry back to Italy and spending two nights in Bologna. And then train back to Paris then London. Yes I know I am so lucky. Italy is our favourite place we have been. We are planning to move there in the next few years - not sure how though. One day you will get there and you will love it and it will have been worth all the waiting.

  9. both (although it's easier for me because i live in europe)! i prefer france, i think - maybe because i know the language better. if you've got time, i'd definitely consider learning a little bit of the languages before going! english is still not that common in france and italy.
lovely photos - and very nicely put together =)
have a wonderful weekend vicki, take care of yourself during the move process!

  11. Hi. I love your blog... Just started following. Well I'm from England and I visited Rome, Florence and Venice last summer. Wow, Italy is amazing.. So rich in culture, history, charisma, weather! My favourite place was Florence, such a romantic city, soft colours, impressive museums, suave cafe culture. I urge you to save save save and go! I want to post photos of my trip to Italy, I hope u will get the chance to see them, ;-) btw USA has amazing places too... I don't blame you for not exploring across the pond! X

  14. I'm french canadian so french is my mother language. In grade school I was in a french private school in the province of Québec and they were doing an exchange program with the french branch of the school in Paris and so i went for a year. When I came back the teachers started calling me "the little french girl" because I had picked up the french accent. When I was 16 I took my high school graduation trip to Italy and after 7 years I'm going back in a month.

  15. I will say that although a cloud of money has never opened up for me, I have more or less forced myself onto Paris by somehow scrounging enough money to visit the City of Lights ... went three times while working as an au pair several years ago (and yes, once was for love! ;)).

I was also lucky enough to get to travel there this past June for work. It was the first time I'd been there in over a decade and I enjoyed it just as much. There is something about that city that makes you sad to leave it. I enjoy my visits there but am truly always the tiniest bit heartbroken when it is time to go home.

  16. In my youth I traipsed all over Europe on a shoestring. Travelling is trickier now, not to mention more expensive, but... just DO it... you'll be so glad you did!
