What do these rooms have in common?

Rooms found via Rue Magazine

When you look at these rooms, what's the first thing you notice? O.k., I'll give you a second to think about it.... For me, it's the beautiful artwork! Whether it's a sculpture, clock, or painting, each room has atleast one piece of art that gives it character and adds the homeowners individual personality to the room. When we move to our new home in a couple of months, I plan on trying my hand at abstract oil painting. My husband isn't too thrilled with the idea, but I think he'll end up being happy with the results. Atleast, I hope so. ;)

Do you have any unique art hanging on your walls or sitting on your shelves? Have you created any of it yourself?

  1. i immediately thought 'art'! i've mostly got prints, posters or even pages from art calendars on my walls - and a couple of drawings i made myself. i think other people's work is more interesting though - it's like when you made it yourself, you know it too well...
have a wonderful weekend vicki - i hope you're feeling better. i admire your positivity!

  2. I have lots of handmade art all around my house (see my blog post about it - http://creativeflourishes.blogspot.com/2010/05/crafts-in-my-house.html some of which was done by me. I love to be surrounded by inspirational creativity. x

  4. I love this pictures Vicki, very inspiring room. I have two traditional puppets that I bought during my trip to Thailand. With the sequin and their traditional costume, I really love it and it really great wall hanging decoration.

  5. I noticed that they don't seem to have an uncompleted art project on every flat surface like my house! Beautiful pics. Thanks! - Kathy

  7. I really want more art in my room. There's a few Flapper Doodle prints I've been eyeing up, and I've got some of my own paintings on my wardrobe, hung using a bit of washi tape! My favourite affordable way to display art is to buy cards. At a local craft fair, a man sold these amazing artworks, made of vintage drawings and pages from old books collaged onto thick board, but the £50 price tag was more than I would want to buy, so we bought six of his cards for under £10 and I've got three displayed in a frame in my room.

  10. I like the first photo very much. The wooden rafters are amazing. We do have some pieces of art in our appartment, but unfortunately we don't have place enough to expose all of them. I am so proud to have an original Emma Fuss now. My boyfriend is a great photographer in B&W and some of my own creations also have a little place. And some antique books and furniture. In my dreams, we do have a country house or a house in the city with a little gallery ... :-) Have a nice weekend! x

  11. For me it was the similarity in each of the photos of the natural colors..then the art. I have an eclectic art collection...lithographs, paintings, photos, prints, oils and pastels, old and new..nothing of great value to anyone else, but they fit in with my antiques, mostly handed down from my mother.
