Editing Raw Photos - Any suggestions?

O.k., I don't understand. How do you shoot raw and then edit your raw images in Photoshop Lightroom? If you're experienced with this, I would love any and all advice. I set my new SLR (and my first SLR) in RAW mode yesterday but when I went to edit my photos, all I saw was white screen. This probably sounds like a pretty lame question to you more experienced photographers, but I'm completely lost. Guess I should think about taking a photography course, huh? ;)

    I think it is a software problem. I remember I had a problem at first using raw in photoshop on my windows computer. I had to download extra software for windows for specially for my type of camera. I am sorry I can't be more specific. I now have a mac and I also don't use raw anymore. It has been a while since I had the problem.

    Vicki, I download all my RAW images in my lightroom, here i fix all the details about exposure, contrast, hue, etc, etc, then open this images with all the changes in Photoshop (actually i use Photoshop elements 9), here apply textures, actions, cropping, etc, etc. Better????

    Check on the Adobe site and see if Lightroom supports the RAW format from your type of camera by default. If they don't support it by default there will be a plugin to download (now they are charging for some of these too).

    I upload to bridge then edit RAW in ACR. Then you can transport to PS.. Lynda.com has lots of tuts on it.

    I did some quick looking. It appears that Canon just upgraded their programming, so you have to wait for Adobe to catch up. This was back in March, so the update should be available soon. Until then, you can shoot JPEG or use the program that came with the camera to convert to DNG (similar to RAW) then import to Lightroom. I found this information here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/588298

    The last comment states there is an upgrade that may be what you need, but I wouldn't know for certain without seeing your computer.

    Hey Vicki, did you get to the bottom of this? I use RAW a lot and open them into Photoshop. I have made a few tutorials for artists and could send them if it helps! Great talking to you today. Warmly, Sue
