Paperdoll Girls

Good morning, friends! How's your week treating you so far? It's probably a little too early to know the answer to that, right?

Thanks so much for your thoughts yesterday on choosing a camera. After doing my own research and reading your comments, I decided to purchase the Canon T2i. There were a couple of different reasons I decided on a Canon, but one reason is that several of my photograher friends own them. We're meeting up this Summer and I thought it might be nice to be able to share lenses, swap Canon stories, etc. Anyways, I can hardly wait! It's supposed to arrive tomorrow, so you know how I'll be spending my Wednesday. ;)

O.k., on to today's post! I came across Paperdoll Girls about a month ago on Etsy while searching for vintage advertisements for collages. It's one of those shops that I can spend a good hour in and not even realise time has passed.

After writing to Patty, I found out that she and her son, Allen, work together on Paperdoll Girls. All this "fashion stuff" is new to Allen but after Patty gives him some guidelines and suggestions, he visits flea markets in Paris where he goes through vintage magazines, seeking the "creme de la creme" in glamorous vintage ads. Patty works diligently from her home in Sydney, Australia, taking care of the business side of things and maintaining their lovely shop. I'm so impressed to see a mother and her son working together in this way. Patty tells me that Allen will be moving on soon to complete his Master's Degree, but for now they work as a great duo, don't they?

These few photos are just a taste of the beauty, whimsy, and glamour you'll find when you pay a visit to Paperdoll Girls!

* Patty and Allen have a second shop, Vogue Vintage Knits, that you can check out HERE!

  1. Love this - especially the print with the lovely nylon legs! :-)

  2. I think the cannon is a great choice Vicki. And this mother son duo is amazing. I love vintage stuff like this and collect lots of little booklets and vintage cookbooks just to look at the old type and illustrations. Love this--such a great find! Hope you are having a great week so far!

  3. These are lovely! I generally go to stamping stores to hunt for collage material, I always forget that I can look on Etsy too.

  4. Vicki, thank you so much for the kind words about our shop! It's been such a pleasure working with Allen on this project the past few months. I will be sad to see him head off for his internship in Senegal next week, but I hope to see him in Paris in December and we will hit the flea markets together in search of new ads to share with our customers!

  5. What lovely shops, Vicki. Sounds like Allen has a pretty tough job, eh? ;) Sounds dreamy.
Congrats on your decision to go with Canon. A wise choice. I'm a Canon gal, too. Have the best time with your new "baby". xx

Thanks so much for your comments. Your thoughts, opinions, and ideas are important to me!
