My First Attempt
I just added this second collage at the suggestion of one of my faithful readers, Julie B. :)
Good morning and happy Saturday! Because of the encouragement I got from some of you a couple of days ago, I put together my first collage yesterday. The last one I remember doing was in Junior High where we had a shoebox and decorated the inside with photos and objects that we felt described ourselves best. I remember I loved doing it and even taught it as an art project for children several years ago.
Anyways, here's my first attempt. I kind of like it, but know I'll look back on it later and wonder, "What was I thinking"?! lol.
Oh, btw, how would you like to put together a collage this weekend? I would love to see it! If you create one, post it on your blog and leave a link in the comments section so we can all pay your blog a visit and "ooh" and "ahh" over what you've done. :0)
P.S. I've had a couple of questions in the comments section about my thought process for this collage, so here you go:
I wanted to do something a little romantic so I clipped a rose from our garden and then googled a quote to go with it. I found a song sheet that had a love song on it and then clipped leaves from the roses stem to place along the side. I wanted the collage to have more of an "earthy" feel so I chose a scrap of fabric I use for photo backdrops that's a cream color. Oh, and then when I edited it I put a soft haze over it to add to the romantic affect. :0)

Here's my Ooh and Ahh for your collage :) Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty! I really enjoy creating collages; they're in my blog through the tag "A Fine Mess" ~ http://megula.blogspot.com/search/label/A%20FINE%20MESS
ReplyDeleteThis is really beautiful and interesting. I'm surprised that it's a first attempt. I'd be interested to know more about how you put it together. I've never done a collage myself.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Vicki. Like Dottie, I'd love to know more about your thought process in making your choices. I can see this being a beautiful piece either on its own or combined with other photos, etc. on a feature wall.
ReplyDeleteAww...thanks, ladies. :) I was afraid no one would comment. lol.

Thank you, Vicki for sharing how you made your collage. So you photographed real items and didn't just import them from a digital scrapping collection. I love hearing how you put it together...it helps me visualize your process and the fun you must have had doing it! (" xoxo
