All images via Martha StewartI'll be honest... I'm not a huge Martha Stewart fan, but there's no question she's a very talented and creative lady. I was searching for some Autumn floral DIY projects to show you (that'll be another day) and came across these colorful photos on her blog. I really like the BLUE/ORANGE combination! Since ORANGE is a WARM COLOR and BLUE is a COOL COLOR, they really balance eachother out when you use them in a color scheme. ORANGE is VIBRANT and CHEERFUL and BLUE is SOOTHING and CALMING. So no matter what mood you're in, this is a combination that's easy to live with.
Any of you have a similar color scheme in your home? What do you think of ORANGE and BLUE together?

ReplyDeleteLove love love orange and blue, especially the soft tones like the ones shown. That ultra pale orange paper shade with those blendy melony vases is gorgeous. And the sherbet orange coffee appliance thing in the last photo - lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love them together. My kitchen is a caribbean blue and the adjacent living room is mango and the two work so well for me - they feel really bright and awake and joyful, which is what I crave in my decor.
ReplyDeleteI love that bedroom photo, with those rich, deeper tones. Esp. that little corner of window treatment that has stripes of both.
i love that combo. we have neutral colors in our houses now, but hopefully we'll get to paint after the first of the year. this color combo will definitely appear in one of the rooms!
ReplyDeleteMartha can, sometimes, be a little to straight edge, but these are fun. I love this combo too, but one can't go too dark in either the orange or the blue otherwise if could look like the colors of some college football team. :)
ReplyDeleteoo I love these pics! I used this combo a lot in my graphic design work this year. In my home I love splashes of different colors. Like lime and white!
ReplyDeleteOrange and blue were my alma mater colors (Auburn University) so I often pair them together! Go Tigers! :D
ReplyDeleteI really love this color combo! Especially in the bedroom pic. We don't have either of these colors in my home however. My go to colors are yellow and green.

ReplyDeleteit looks great in those rooms. in their most intense hues, blue & orange can remind me of our local sports teams, i.e. the knicks, mets. but, in the right shades it's a wonderful combo.

Ever since I've seen a photo of an old iron roof rusted I've been a fan of blue and orange...just look around you in the countryside, you will not have far to look to see this colour combination in rust and old iron....love the site.
