Unique Pottery Designs by Nature of Clay

Her Shop ~ Nature of Clay

"I’ve always enjoyed the look and comfort of a crafted stoneware mug for my morning coffee. Around 10 years ago I indulged my love of pottery and began taking classes at the Clayworks studio at Roberson Museum and Science Center in Binghamton, NY. I now work out of my own studio in my home. I've also sought more advanced instruction such as an intensive class in saggar and raku technique by Charlie and Linda Riggs and a raku class taught by Ramon Camarillo.

While working almost exclusively with wheel-thrown forms, I've been exploring various clay carving and deformation techniques. Early pieces were utilitarian glazed items but my work is evolving into more decorative and artistic forms as I explore the possibilities of saggar, raku, and glaze firings as well as occasional experiments such as combining glass with ceramics.

My commitment to my craft and artistry continues to grow as the ebb and flow of family and career responsibilities allow." Lori Cramer
