Warm it up or Cool it Down?

Autumn Warm Color Scheme Inspiration Photo ~ Nixie Michelle Autumn Cool Color Scheme Inspiration Photo ~ acwmaiden

Good morning, everyone. :) I hope you don't mind that I'm being a little lazy today....I'm still fighting that rotten chest cold! Thanks for all of your well-wishes yesterday, btw. You guys really are the best. Anyways, this is a partial post from a guest article I did for Etsy's blog, The Storque, at the beginning of August. With this being the first day of Fall, I thought it would be nice to repost it (and give me a little break, too, if I'm being honest). At the end of this post if you would like to leave a comment about what you enjoy about Fall, I would love to hear your thoughts. The main things I love about Fall are all of the vibrant COLORS of the leaves, hot apple cider, and cinnamen candles. What about you? Here's that article!

SPICE IT UP!

The colors in Jenn Ski's home are prefect for creating a sense of warmth.

"With Autumn quickly approaching (now here!), you might be looking forward to some of the simple pleasures it brings. Colorful crunchy leaves underfoot, spicy hot cider, a roaring fire in the fireplace, or an excuse to spend lazy days indoors.

It's not practical for most of us to change our home's color scheme with the seasons, but we can always add a little fall color through rich warm accessories and home decor or by painting an accent wall in pumpkin, chocolate brown, or harvest gold. Another way to add warmth to your color scheme is through natural elements — bouquets of gold and orange flowers with tall leafy branches or apple cinnamon candles surrounded by autumn potpourri. Think about putting new pillow covers in red, orange, gold, or brown over your existing pillows and switch out your area rugs for inexpensive versions in earth tones.

Warm colors such as red, gold, orange, and brown make a home feel cozy, alive, and welcoming! Is this the feeling you want to create in your rooms this fall?"

COOL IT DOWN!

The lavender filled home of Abigail Ahern is an example of a soothing, airy environment.

"If a warm, earthy color scheme is not for you, maybe you can go for a cooler palette. Cool colors such as greens, blues, and purples are tranquil and make your home feel relaxing and peaceful. Use lighter versions of these colors (aqua marine, sky blue, or lavender) for a serene palette; if you're feeling bolder, use richer complements such as avocado green, cobalt blue, and eggplant. Have you ever noticed the cooler color schemes used in most hospitals or spas... two places where you definitely want to feel relaxed?"

  3. Fall is probably my favorite, except that we get long cold winters after it :( I love trail walking with the leaves crunching under my feet, it's the best. I also enjoy the transition in my cooking, moving from salads and grilling to hotdishes and soups! Yum!

  8. Love this post, especially the warm vs. cool decor. My favorite part of Autumn is pumpkin everything -- pie, coffee, soup, you name it.

  9. I'm not Autumn's biggest fan, but the cooler temps do make me look forward to evenings by the fire with a good book, and being free to use the oven without overheating the house :)
And scarves...I do love being able to wear scarves.

Lovely post. What i loce about autumn...simply the idea of using the word September, October and November, the feeling of rewatching "Sweet November", school starting, the colours of the leaves, the inspiration laying everywhere, my mom's food, the warmth of the people around you when outside is cold, the walks, the books, the tea and biscuits, pancakes and fresh marmelade,my b-day,friends and family's b-days, the fact that this season exists.I'm so grateful for this.Have a lovely day:)
