Colorful, Dreamy Images by Anna Aiden.....

Well, the weekend's here! Yay! Before I head out for a full Friday, I wanted to leave you with these "oh so romantic" images by Anna Aiden. For me, her beautiful photos really capture the essence of being a woman. And, if you're a nature lover or just love beauty period, you can really appreciate her talent.

Lately, I've been in awe of photographers! I've received so many amazing photos from readers and I'm more passionate than ever about pursuing photography. In my opinion, photographers know how to live life to the fullest. They're constantly seeking out the whimsical, the beautiful, the humourous, the romantic, and even the tragic moments in life.

If you're a photographer and have any suggestions or advice for those of us who are just starting out, please leave it in the comments section below. I know that I'm not the only one who will be listening. :)

Have a fun and safe weekend and I'll see you here on Monday!

  1. I wouldn't consider myself a pro in the least, so i'm probably not the best person to give advice, but i have learned a few things that i can share. the first is, when in doubt, snap away. i have LOADS of raw images out of the camera that takes serious time to weed through to decide what is worth keeping and editing. i have so many photos that most eyes never see because I take SO many photos. This way I make sure that I always capture what I want. And with time you get a little better at this and don't have to take as many photos, but this is for sure how I taught myself to make sure I am capturing the image I see in my head.

    Also, it's all about seeing things through the eye of a camera. I am a firm believer that if you put a three different photographers in the same white room, with white walls, floors and ceilings... each one would have different images to show you. the hard part is finding your own style of photography, but once you do that, i think that things come a bit easier to you and you find yourself seeing everything through the lens of a camera {precisely why i always have one with me!}

    just dive in and go for it!! i think you will surprise yourself. good luck!

  3. I came home and read what you wrote, Chelsea. Good suggestions! Is there a camera that's considered quality but inexpensive that you could recommend?

  4. I have the Canon Rebel XSI DSLR and she is my baby. It was very reasonably priced compared to others of its ability, and I could not be happier with it. I am still saving to get some new lenses for it though, because lenses are where the real money is. But the factory lens has been great to me so far!

    That being said, I am obsessed with antique cameras. Right now I have 6 in my collection, all of which you can see on my flickr stream. I have film for most all of them and the images that they capture are beyond incredible. My favorites are my polaroids {i have two, and found both of them for $5 at a thrift store, and my Kodak Duaflex that I got for $3 at a flea market}. So I would highly suggest seeking out some thrift stores and see if you can find some gems there. You might have to pay more for some film, but it will still be very inexpensive compared to the SLRs. Let me know if you do find anything because I have some great sources for good quality, inexpensive film. And they look so fantastic sitting out on display on your home too. :) Just sitting there staring at you, waiting for you to use them!

    Good luck!

  5. I know a few things that helped me when I first started looking into photography.

    First, a good photographer can take a good picture with any kind of camera, a simple point and shoot or even a disposable film camera. It doesn't take a special camera or photoshop to create a beautiful image, it takes a well trained eye.

    Second, if you do reach the point of using a nicer camera, your next most important step to get a nice picture is the glass. The glass can make a huge difference in the blur and the professional look of a photo. When you're ready to look for a camera, look for one that is versatile. Cannon cameras have changed and upgraded through the years but the lenses have not. They will work with and cannon with an interchangeable lense.

    Third, if you don't know much about photography, don't just go out and purchase an exensive editor like photoshop. It is not user friendly and would be a waste of money. Start with a free editor like picnik.com that can be upgraded for $25 a year once you have mastered that take a class for digital photography at the local community college and THEN invest in Photoshop.
