Good morning! Did your weeekend slip by as fast as mine? Hope it was a good one. :) Today I'll be taking you on a tour of a colorful bungalow owned by Cathie from Magic Markings Art Studio. Don't think I could ever have a down day living in a cheerful home like this. Enjoy!
Our home was originally built in 1950, as a small three bedroom cape cod cottage. When we remodeled it in 2002, we wanted to keep the character of the original house, but update it with a “Beach Bungalow” feel. Thus the addition of a large expanse of windows, outhouse design for master bathroom, fish cutout in the loft area railing, screened in front porch and color choice in wall paint.
Whimsical detail in the hand painted tiles in the bathroom shower and sink, hand painted tiles and light fixtures for the breakfast bar, glass mosaic bar, and hand painted dishwasher and matching stove help give our home the laid back “Key West charm” we were seeking . Along with the upgrades I was finally able to install a pottery kiln in our garage!!! True happiness.
As a result of the additional space and kiln, I was able to produce more art work and open my own art studio. Consequently, I found the need to “unload” my art, and as many artists before me I discovered Etsy. This finding opened up an unending door of opportunities. Now, not only do I have an outlet to sell my art work through MagicMarkingsArt.etsy.com, but I’ve met incredible artists and designers who continue to motivate and inspire me.
