Adding Character to Your Bedroom

All images found on Small Rooms

Good morning. :) How was your weekend? If you live in the U.S., did you watch the Super Bowl? It's funny...I was talking to a friend yesterday and we were saying how we don't exactly "watch" football but we have our televisions turned on in the background so we can at least hear the scores and major plays, etc., so that we don't look like complete idiots if someone asks us if we saw the game. ha, ha. Are you like that, too, or do you faithfully watch each minute of the game? My Mom is a HUGE football fan and I'm pretty sure her neighbors can hear her squeals of excitement with every touchdown. ;)

Over the weekend I was looking around our new condo (it's a very quick look because we have less than a thousand square feet!) and feel overall happy with how the living room and dining area are coming along. But when I look at our bedroom and the kitchen ... ugh ... they are so bare and lack style and character. We just moved in a few months ago so I'm going to give myself some grace, but I look forward to the time when I can walk in these rooms and feel like they truly reflect my and my husband's personalities.

I think that's what I like about the rooms in these photos. They are filled with COLOR, unique artwork, and cozy vignettes which reflect the home owners' interests and personalities.

Which one is YOUR favorite? What do you like about it?

  1. Omg, is this what they call small bedrooms? Then we live in a dollhouse :) Thanks for sharing these inspiring photos dear Vicki and all the best luck for the decoration of your condo!

  2. Step by step it will become a paradise: that's what I know for sure. Just be gentle and patient with yourself. I think it's nice to give yourself the time to really search for stuff, as that's part of the fun too, isn't it? And it could be inspiring as well on the photography level :) Enjoy your quest! xxx

  3. Wow! Such beautiful spaces shown here. . . I may rethink my own bedroom now.

It is very hard for me to sit and do nothing when the television is on. That includes during the Super Bowl, although I have a little interest there. My husband is not a diehard sports fan and I'm rather happy about that.

If Wisconsin's Green Bay Packers would have made it to the Super Bowl, I would have had a little more reason to focus. I'm glad the Giants won though.

  4. I'm in love with the second one. It feels like a room high up in a treehouse with those skylights. LOVE that wallpaper.

  5. You found some unique spaces here. I love how people can make the oddest spaces look as if they were meant to be decorated just that way.

I am not really a football fan. I convinced my husbands to go to a friends party with out me. I stayed home in my PJ's and read blogs, blogged, and worked in my journal. It was perfect.

  8. The second bedroom design is perfect! Natural sunlight opens up the room and makes it possible to do some star gazing at night. Being able to look up at the stars at night, or see the clouds dart across the clear blue sky during the day is very relaxing. With skylights at home, you have nothing else to lose but darkness!
